Hi, I'm Forest Liu
My love and time in nature have made me care deeply about sustainability.
My goal is simple: to use my passion for engineering to develop solutions to environmental problems.
Why I Care
Almost every week, I go fishing with my Dad and my dog. The lake has become a place where I find peace and can bond with family.
My love for nature photography has made me much more observant of my surroundings.
Slowly noticing the pollution and negative human impacts in the parts of nature I often visit motivated me to try and take action myself.
My Actions
I was interested in renewable ocean technology and decided to conduct research in the field. Under the mentorship of a brown graduate student, I conducted experiments and wrote a research paper on the effects of buoy shape on point absorbers, a method for harvesting ocean energy.
In the past year, I have worked on developing the DropTank system. Through my skills in CAD and with trial and error testing, I have developed a successful prototype for DropTank.
My Mission
Even though there is a purchase page to DropTank, my mission is not to commercialize but instead to inspire ordinary people. I believe that anyone has the capacity to research environmental concerns in the age of information and to use their brains to find solutions. Through my project, I want others to see that with a bit of curiosity, anyone can help solve problems in the world
